The art of wooden handicrafts in Iran has a long history and dates back to 1500 years ago, the culmination of this Iranian art was in the Safavid period. Since the rise of the Seljuks, wood carving become commonplace. During the Zandi and Qajar periods, the construction of inlaid doors and large pieces gave way to smaller pieces such as the mirror frame and wooden dishes. Today, art of wooden handicrafts is common in all parts of Iran It can be said that in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Abadeh, Shahrood,and Golpayegan ,relatively more khatamkari and wood carving is done.
